Octopus Army in support of Ukraine
My name is Zara and I am 14 years old and for the past six months I have been knitting these octopuses for Ukraine. I started off with 3 octopuses, then 15 and kept going until there were 50 of them! (a small army)
I have a friend named Alisa, who is Ukrainian, and had to flee from her home back in April. Her mother still lives in Ukraine, but they got to see each other again for a short time back in August. During this window, she was able to give her mother one of the first ones I made. That little Octopus made it all the way to Ukraine, and was even in Kyiv with air-raid sirens going off and is currently still living there today. (see pics below)
In these pictures, the little octopus is visiting a showcase of Russian vehicles that the Ukraine army managed to destroy in Kyiv. In the second from the left picture, you can see the little Octopus inside the cannon of a Russian tank! To the far right is a picture of an octopus next to Ukrainian monument in Kyiv!
